Drawing Jam w/ singer Mesparrow on Sat 26th May

As part of the BD & Comics Festival, French singer  Mesparrow will perform on May 26th at the French Institute for an exclusive live drawing jam, sharing the stage with comics illustrators.

French soul/pop/gospel singer Mesparrow will bewitch the illustrators with her swing rhythms and enchanting deep voice, and they will respond to her tunes with a few improvisations of their own. Luke Pearson, Tom Gauld, Richard Short and other surprise guests have succumbed to the French sirens charms and the audience will witness their pens wanderings live on the big screen of the Institute’s cinema.

Mesparrow, born Marion Gaume, is a French soul/folk singer-songwriter. With her minimalistic approach to music, her live performances capture the listener and bring them directly into her world of haunting vocals. Featuring piano, loop pedals and a realistic imitation of trumpet and bird calls, her music is a singular and unmissable audio experience. With a sound that brings to mind other exceptional talents such as PJ Harvey and CocoRosie, Mesparrow’s concerts are a musical treat.

The concert will be followed by a Victorians vs Decadents dress-up party. In homage to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, come dance to the tunes of our DJ, watch live performances, enjoy graphic cocktails, and participate in a costume competition!
